Sound Immigration is the Affidavit of Support law firm®

Sound Immigration is a law firm based in Washington State that focuses exclusively on enforcing the USCIS Form I-864, Affidavit of Support. Managed by attorney Gregory (“Greg”) McLawsen, Sound Immigration represents clients in federal litigation across the United States.

Immigration win with client nationwide support

Enforcing the Form I-864 is all that we do.

Sound Immigration does not handle general immigration matters such as visas and “green card” applications. We also do not represent sponsors who have been sued for financial support. We work exclusively on behalf of sponsored immigrants seeking to enforce the Affidavit of Support.

Our values.

This law firm exists to fill a need served by no other law firm in the United States. We represent financially vulnerable immigrants in enforcing a federal obligation that was promised to them under the Affidavit of Support.

Nationwide representation.

We have represented sponsored immigrants in more than 26 U.S. states and routinely work with clients all around the country. Attorney Gregory McLawsen is admitted to numerous federal district courts. Where needed, we also collaborate with local attorneys. In all cases, our clients work directly with Sound Immigration.

Why Sound Immigration?

We are the only law firm in the United States exclusively devoted to enforcing the Form I-864, Affidavit of Support. Our law firm began as a general immigration practice. After publishing a short article about Form I-864 lawsuits, we started getting phone calls. Eventually, that highly specific practice area became our sole focus. How we work with clients.

Our law firm is set up to work online with clients across the country. You can securely access your client file and communicate directly with your lawyer
from your smartphone or personal computer. We work with clients the same way whether they are based in our home, Washington State, or located elsewhere. We are a small, specialized law firm built to serve a highly specific client base.

How we decide which clients to represent.

We represent clients who are a strong mutual fit for our law firm. This includes:

We represent only sponsored immigrants who have legitimate claims to financial assistance under the Affidavit of Support.
Civility and mutual respect are bedrock principles for every client matter.
We pursue cases where there is a realistic path to recovering financial support from a sponsor. In most cases, this requires that the sponsor can be located and has the financial ability to satisfy a court judgment.
Because we rely on electronic communication, our clients need to have basic abilities to use technology, or have assistance from someone locally who can help them.

What makes Sound Immigration different?

Focus.

The country’s only law firm dedicated exclusively to enforcing the Form I-864, Affidavit of Support.

Cost accessibility.

Our contingency fee model allows us to serve clients with zero upfront cost.

Expertise.

We have litigated more Form I-864 lawsuits than any firm in the country.

Results.

Our law firm is compensated only when we recover financial support for our clients.

What clients can expect when working with Sound Immigration.

We are serious about moving forward efficiently and effectively for our clients. Our standard practices include:

We are a small, independent law firm, not a collection agency. Our clients work directly with their attorney and communicate directly with the attorney through our secure client portal.
Direct attorney-client communications typically receive a response by the following business day.
We are a traditional, small law firm. Clients work directly with the lawyer personally responsible for their case.
Clients work directly with their lawyer at every step of a case lifecycle. You are never handed off to a call center.

Who we are not a good fit for.

We do not represent Affidavit of Support sponsors, nor do we consult with or advise lawyers representing sponsors.

This is to adhere to our professional responsibility to avoid work that could lead to conflicts of interest with our existing clients.

We also do not handle any general immigration matters such as visa petitions, green card applications, or deportation/removal defense. Our practice is exclusively limited to representing sponsored immigrants in connection with their rights under the Affidavit of Support.
